Cables that twist like shadows

Big cables twist across the chest like shadows in motion. Twisting Shadows is a cropped sweater knitted side to side, starting from the right sleeve, so the cables run horizontally across the body and each sleeve has its own cable.

One of the cables twists "the wrong way" on purpose. It started as a mistake in my original sweater, and I liked it so much that it became part of the design.

Worked in DROPS Nepal on 8 mm needles, it's a quick knit. You can adjust the bust and back width to your own measurements, and the pattern includes a note for making the body about 12 cm (4.75 in) shorter. The pattern now has a fresh new layout.

Bust, armpit to armpit: 41 (50, 56, 64, 74, 83) cm / 16.1 (19.7, 22, 25.2, 29.1, 32.7) in
Shoulder to hem: 45.4 cm / 17.9 in

Yarn
350 (400, 400, 450, 550, 600) g Garnstudio DROPS Nepal (65% wool, 35% alpaca; 75 m / 82 yd per 50 g). The sample is size S in DROPS Nepal, purple.

Needles
8 mm / US 11: an 80 cm (32 in) circular for magic loop, or DPNs and straight needles. I use Knitter's Pride Terra interchangeable tips, US 11 (8 mm) with a 47 in cable.

Gauge
13.5 sts and 20 rows = 10 cm / 4 in in stockinette.

Notions
A cable needle (KnitPro DPNs, US 11 / 8 mm work well), a stitch holder or scrap yarn, 1 extra needle for the three-needle bind-off, and 2 stitch markers.

Skill level
Intermediate (cables, three-needle bind-off).
